NFA Members,
Please find attached Governor Sandoval's Budget Director Andrew Clinger's report on the governor's proposed budget. This is the proposal that will go to the legislature for consideration. The legislature is not obligated to approve and may make modifications, but if the governor vetoes the modifications related to raising revenue, the legislature must have a 2/3 majority to override the veto. This is where faculty, staff, students, and parents can make the difference. We need to thoughtfully help our legislators have the courage to not make such drastic cuts to our education system.
Additionally, the Legislative Commission Budget Subcommittee will be meeting tomorrow [at 8:30am] and Chancellor Klaich is first on the agenda. If you would like to watch the hearing, you can go to http://www.leg.state.nv.us/MeetingDisplay/AudioVideo/.

Lastly, NSHE students are hosting a Stop the Cuts Rally at the Grant Sawyer Government Building from 8 am to 2 pm this Saturday, January 29th. Legislative leaders in both the north and south will be hosting Town Hall meetings to discuss the governor's proposed cuts. Grant Sawyer is across from Cashman Field at 555 E. Washington Ave. at Las Vegas Blvd. The room is 4401.
