Majority Leader Horsford's memo on higher education

Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford today issued a "Memo on Higher Education" (also reposted by the LV Sun).

It shows that there is leadership in the state which understands the value of quality, affordable higher education and the faculty who deliver it. Senator Horsford's memo makes the case that

The cuts to higher education will have an immediate negative impact on spending in Nevada during a time when the state desperately needs revenue. But that’s not the worst part.

In order for Nevada to truly diversify its economy it needs to produce a workforce that meets the needs of 21st Century business. Our young people deserve the opportunity to compete for high-paying jobs.

It also notes, as we did yesterday, that "[o]ther Republican governors ..." are not cutting but investing " to improve higher education in their states."
