The Assembly Judiciary committee will hear Senate Bill 231 tomorrow morning, Wed. June 1, at 8:30 a.m. It is critical that you tell lawmakers to keep the responsibility for student safety on campuses, where it belongs!
NFA urges all students and faculty concerned with SB 231 to attend the hearing, either in Carson City or in Las Vegas. Be prepared to testify. For details on attending, click here.
If you cannot attend, please communicate your views to your Assembly representatives, especially Judiciary committee chair William Horne and members of the Assembly Judiciary committee:

For an article by two UNVL criminal justice professors on why SB 231 is bad policy, click here. Inside Higher Ed also covered the misguided proposals in an article yesterday. The NFA's official statement of opposition to SB 231 is available here.
Please use this information to contact committee members today. This bill is not about the right to carry guns; it's about keeping the responsibility for student safety where it should be: on campus!
