UNLV releases revised budget cut plan

The Provost has released a revised plan to cut $18 million from the academic budget at UNLV (which by way represents about 65% of total state-funded expenditures at UNLV).

The plan includes elimination of 178 faculty and staff positions from academic affairs and structural reorganizations of the Colleges of Education, Business and Hotel Administration.

Because faculty leaders have not been briefed on the details of the plans at each college level, there's not much more comment to offer at this point -- other than to express, once more, a combination of sadness and outrage.

This plan will be discussed at the Board of Regents meeting on Friday.
