PEBP update: Conklin asks the tough questions

This morning the Joint Government Subcommittees concluded testimony on the PEBP changes. Executive Officer of the PEBP Board Jim Wells reviewed the circumstances driving the changes and then the process for moving retired employees into the Medicare Exchange Program. Chairman Marcus Conklin stated more than once that the rationale for the changes did not justify shifting so much of the cost over to the plan participants. Assemblyman Conklin expressed grave concern over singling out public employees to make disproportionate sacrifice for no other reason than being public employees.
